athan holds a Masters of Music Therapy Degree (MMT) from the University of Melbourne, a Jazz Performance Certificate from Humber Polytechnic College, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology (BSc.) from Mount Allison University. He is also a Certified Music Therapist (MTA), and Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) who combines clinical expertise with a deep passion for music and human connection.
Nathan has worked with individuals across the lifespan, from pediatric and adolescent clients to adults and older adults in disability and neurorehabilitation settings. His experience includes clinical placements in hospitals, LTC, and private practice settings where he provided goal-oriented music therapy interventions to support communication, motor function, emotional well-being, and cognitive rehabilitation.
Nathan is passionate about interdisciplinary collaboration. He has worked alongside physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language pathologists, and social workers, particularly in neurorehabilitation settings, to support individuals recovering from brain injuries and strokes. His approach integrates live music-making, improvisation, songwriting, and receptive music experiences tailored to each client’s unique needs. Whether working one-on-one or in group sessions, he strives to create a safe and engaging space where clients can explore their strengths, build confidence, and experience the therapeutic power of music.
Instruments taught: Piano, Guitar, Bass, Percussion, Adapted Music Lessons, Music Therapy Sessions.
Nathan is a Certified MTA in Good Standing.
